Free Singing Workshop event: Saturday 2nd September 2023As part of the 2023 Hailsham Festival, Hailsham Choral is holding a free Open Workshop on Saturday 2nd September 2023 from 10.30am - 12.30pm at the Civic Community Hall, Vicarage Lane, BN27 1AX. Normally the choir - about 60 singers - performs great classical music like the sublime Mozart Requiem or Haydn’s glorious Nelson Mass. It’s some of the best choral music ever written, but not something that a beginner could tackle easily. This year, we want to give everyone the experience of singing with a choir - no previous experience necessary. |
Let’s get Hailsham singing! That’s why we’re planning a free Festival workshop on the morning of Saturday 2nd September. It will be a come-and-sing event open to everyone aged 14 and over. (Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult). Perhaps you sang once in a school choir, and would love to reignite that flame; perhaps you have always wanted to sing, but never had the time or opportunity? Now is the perfect time to give it a go and see what we’re all about. The benefits of singing are clear; it is good for both physical and mental health, as well as one’s general well-being. This workshop is an opportunity to experience the joy of singing together and maybe make new friends. It is suitable for complete beginners and is also a good introduction if you are more experienced and interested in joining the choir. Don’t worry if you can’t read music - you will get all the help you need at this workshop. The workshop will be led by our inspirational musical director, Jozik Kotz. As well as being an experienced professional singer himself, Jozik has been musical director of Glyndebourne Youth Opera, head of singing for East Sussex Music Service and a national choral trainer for Youth Music. So come and join us at the Open Workshop to get a taste of what we do. There will be refreshments in the break and it promises to be a fun morning! |
