Singing with a great choir !

Hailsham Choral is looking for a new accompanist

Our wonderful accompanist, Colin Hughes, is leaving us in September to take up a new conducting post, so we need a skilled replacement to start on Thursday, September 5th.

We rehearse on Thursday evenings, from 19.30 to 21.30, at the Hailsham Civic Community Centre. (See map)

Job description

a) To play at weekly rehearsals, workshops and at concerts as required;
b) To be willing to take rehearsals on the rare occasion neither MD nor assistant MD are available.

For a more detailed job description, please see here.

About the choir

Hailsham Choral is a friendly local choir with about 60 members which was established in 1961.

We perform four main concerts a year, at least one with orchestra and professional soloists. We also take part in other events, like the Hailsham Festival, and have good links with Hailsham’s twin town, Gournay en Bray, where we have sung in the past. We have a wide repertoire from Baroque and Renaissance music to oratorio, from opera choruses to folksongs.

Our choir is auditioned and has a good reputation in the area. (See here for some past concert reviews).

What we are looking for

We are looking for a skilled and sensitive keyboard player with good sight- reading and score-reading skills to start in September 2019. Ability to play the organ would be an advantage. The successful candidate should be able to work well as part of a team, collaborating with the Musical Director and Committee and providing support to the choir.

The successful applicant will be paid an honorarium (negotiable based upon experience and expertise), plus a separate fee for performing in concerts.

If you are interested, please apply by email to hcsinfo@hailshamchoral.org with your CV and a covering letter.

Closing date for applications is 15 June 2019.
